EJTN GEIE is a European Economic Interest Grouping incorporated in Brussels, B. in 1998.

Main objectives of EJTN GEIE are to develop synergies among organisations, SMEs, industries, research centres, universities active within the European industry and involved in Scientific and technological research and training. The scope is to improve knowledge, training, education and information exchange among the partners of the EEIG, favouring transfer towards low technology users, improving dissemination and exploitation of research results through a coordinating action.

The Group is linked to more than 10,000 SMEs in the European Jewellery sector either directly or through its members in the different European countries. Chairman of the Board is Ms. Maria Luisa Vitobello van der Schoot.

In 2002 a dedicated Department – Project Management Unit, PMU – has been created to provide specific competences for coordination of projects. EJTN GEIE has proven experience in coordinating projects: most of the group’s partners have long standing experience in research projects and coordinating European, international and national projects.

Role of partner

EJTN GEIE is project coordinator(WP0) and participates in Dissemination and IT Communication (WP11).

Maria Luisa Vitobello van der Schoot

Chairperson of EJTN GEIE; in this position has coordinated several EU-funded research projects in the field of jewellery technologies, precious metals, socio-economic aspects of the jewellery industry and cultural heritage aspects. Master goldsmith and jewellery designer, based in Milan, Italy. Has followed professional jewellery courses in Paris (France) and at the Kulicke-Stark Jewellery Academy in New York, USA. She is specialized in ancient jewellery technologies, and in hi-tech applications for the understanding and replication of these techniques. Her work has been exhibited in several international jewellery art and trade exhibitions, and has been commercially distributed in several countries. She has a Master’s Degree in Jewellery Design, and holds senior management posts in a number of enterprises linked to jewellery design and production. She lectures on History of Jewellery Technologies at Milan Bicocca University, Italy. She serves as European Commission Evaluator for DG Research, as UNDP and EUROPEAID expert.
