Sarl Société Sud Timmi is currently participating as a partner in the following international projects :

Training Project to recover and enhance Algiers Casbah by traditional techniques and their innovative use (granted by Italian Foreign Office).

Partner SUD TIMMI will be in charge of the research activities related to the classification, restoration and valorization of SAOURA Foggara according to their historical values and hydric functions in Algeria (WP3)

is specialized in Research on Water Problems in Arid Zones.
His international activities include his role as Visiting Professor, University of Michigan (1972), Director, Maison du Japon, Cité Internationale de l’Université de Paris (1982-1984), Member of Executive Board of ICRISAT (1976-1982), Board of Trustees of ICARDA (1996-at present, Vice-chair), Council Member of International Drylands Development Commission (1993-until the present time ). Other activities include IGU Commission, Desertification in and around Arid Lands, Advisor on Arabia Plan & Experts on Space Archaeology & Qanat, UNESCO/Expert, preparatory workshop on Desertification, UNEP/Expert, the Middle-East Peace Process Initiative, the World Bank, and many other institutions.
He was the first President of the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies (1990-2000) and also President of Société Franco-Japonaise de Géographie (1995, now Honorary President), Honorary member of Societa di Geografia Italiana, Société de Géographie de Paris.
He has conducted many international missions to Asia, Africa and Latin America mainly for the research on Water Problems in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, especially the Qanat system and Oasis studies. He has written more than 100 articles, eight books, edited ten publications and translated seven titles.

Research Activities
From 1997 until end 2001 she was living and working as an Associate Expert for Dutch Development Assistance in Aleppo, Syria. She was seconded for four years to the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) where she carried out various tasks. Main task during the last two years(1999-2001) was to conduct and manage an applied anthropological research project on the modern use of ancient water tunnel systems called "Qanats". During this project one Qanat tunnel in a remote village East of Aleppo has been cleaned and renovated as a pilot case study. Lastly we conducted with an interdisciplinary team, a national survey and documented all the current sites in Syria where the Qanats are still used in 2001.

Main competences : Trainer in rural economy and management. Stages responsible for Agronomic engineers, teachers and researchers. Institute director and teacher at ITAS de Ouargla. Oasis agriculture and Sahara development expert and researcher. Consultant at Banque Mondiale (development of Sahara regions). Member and president of INRAA Scientific Council, Algeria.
