Partner 6 - PNT (Petra National Trust), Jordan
Petra National Trust (PNT) is a non-governmental/non profit organization with a mandate to preserve the environment, antiquities, and cultural heritage of Petra region. Since its inception in 1989, PNT has worked to bring together people in Jordan and abroad who are committed to that same goal.
PNT works in partnership and collaboration with the Department of Antiquities, the Ministry of Tourism and the Petra Regional Authority to implement its projects. The projects that PNT has thus far conducted are as follows:
- Excavation of the kilns in Zurraba area, 1991.
- In collaboration with UNESCO developed the Management Plan for the Petra Archaeological Park, 1994
- Survey of the biodiversity of the Petra Region (Flora and Fauna), 194-1996.
- Study survey of the hydraulic systems in the Siq and Areas flanking the Siq, 1995-96.
- Rehabilitation of the Johann Ludwig Burkhart Centre, 1995.
- Study/survey of the consolidation of the floor of the Siq, 1995-96.
- Wadi Mousa Archaeological survey.
- Archaeological supervision of the project for water supply and wastewater treatment in Petra, 96-98
- Excavation and backfill of the Siq; the construction of Dams in the Siq; the consolidation of the floor of the Siq and the restoration of hydraulic features uncovered in the Siq, 1997-2002.
- Study/survey of the Nabataean hydraulic systems in the Mudhlim area 2002-2003.
- Development of a conservation strategy for the Petra Archaeological Park, 2000-ongoing.

Principal personnel involved in the project:
The specialists that PNT will provide for the project, are: Project Manager-Site Manager, hydraulic engineer, geo-technicians, geologists, technical laboratories & an ecologist.
The under listed team members have worked on all PNT hydraulic projects over the past 7 years. A brief on each of the team members along with the tasks assigned is presented hereunder:

Civil and structural engineer / project manager.
Project coordination, development of objectives and detailed work plan, structural analysis and design, coordination with authorities and regulatory agencies, interim reporting and development of final report.
Dr. Adnan Salhi
Hydraulics specialist: hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, simulation, hydraulic intervention measures design, development, and supervision on mitigation measures.
Munther Kharouf
Civil Engineer / site manager.
Handling works related documentation and surveying activities at the various work stages, identification and development of catchment areas, conservation and restoration support activities and labor organization, direct management of all civil works intervention measures.
Rajah Nasser
Geologist: identification of geological formation, rock stability, collapse patterns analysis.
Dr. Amjad Bargouti
Geo-technical engineer: geo-technical, anchorage and foundations stability, lab testing sampling and data analysis, soil stability.
